The Shalom Free Clinic is located in the Education Building next to the Congregational Church of Chico at 1190 E. First Ave., Chico, CA 95926.

No Appointment Needed

A buffet luncheon will be served each Sunday afternoon during clinic hours.

The Shalom Free Clinic will see patients for: sore throat, ear ache, colds and flu, chronic headaches, minor trauma (if a fracture is suspected you will be referred to the Emergency Room), gastroenteritis, chronic low back pain (but not severe pain that could be due to a severe underlying problem), urinary tract infections, asthma and bronchitis, cellulitis if it can be treated as an outpatient, and sexually transmitted diseases. Referrals will be provided, as needed.

The Shalom Free Clinic also provides the following services: smoking cessation, medication management, blood pressure control, health screenings, health education, primary care interventions, drug and alcohol interventions, mental/behavioral health counseling, prescriptions and medications.

The Shalom Free Clinic is NOT able to treat: fractures, unstable vital signs, acute low back pain, irritable bowl disease, Crohn's disease, diverticulitis, cholecystitis, lacerations, cellulitis that requires an IV/antibiotics, OB/GYN problems, Worker's Compensation injuries, insurance physicals, or sports physicals.

Call 911 if you have a stroke or TIA, chest pain, or severe shortness of breath.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Shalom Free Clinic will:

Provide under insured and uninsured children and adults with health screening, primary care interventions, health service, and education including physical and mental/behavioral health services free of charge.

Welcome and accept people of all sexual orientations, races, genders, nationalities, economic standings, marital status, family configurations, ages, and different mental and physical abilities.

About Us:
It was the dream of a few key people who thought they could do more for those with physical, mental, and spiritual health issues in our community. They decided that there had to be an alternative to help the sick and needy. As they gathered together others, their dream became a reality. This dream of hope has brought forth the creation of the Shalom Free Clinic.

The Shalom Free Clinic is co-sponsored by the Chico Havurah (a Jewish congregation) and the Congregational Church of Chico (a United Church of Christ congregation). We wish to help others in a vibrant atmosphere that conveys our attitude of warmth, acceptance and respect for all people.

The Clinic is entirely staffed by volunteers, both medical and non-medical, from Chico and the surrounding communities. Volunteers are our foundation and we cannot function without them.
